The hire
Scaffold hire tracking
The hire runs from the day you hand the scaffold over to the day the customer says it is ready to come down. The weeks it stands waiting for a lorry are not on the invoice.
How the clock works
You priced it for a set number of weeks. A week before they run out, ScaffYard flags the job so you can ring the customer while there is still time to agree what happens next.
When the agreed weeks are up, nothing extra is counted until you choose to charge it or to leave it. ScaffYard asks. It does not raise the invoice.
Off hire closes the hire on the day you press it. That is the customer ringing up, or you recording that they have. The strike is the day the steel comes down. It is written on the job, and it does not move the end of the hire.
A chargehand can tick the scaffold down. That tick is evidence, with their name and the time. It does not, on its own, stop the hire or start an invoice. You do.
What you can show a customer
- The weeks that were agreed, and the day the hire stopped.
- The handover certificate and the inspection record, sent from your own email address when you confirm the handover, record an inspection, or take the job off hire. One email for that event, and you can see what went.
- A handover certificate that is not ready for issue is not sent.

Questions
- Does hire stop when the scaffold comes down?
- No. It stops when the customer says they have finished with it, and you record the off hire. The strike records the day the steel came down and does not extend the hire.
- Does extra hire go on the invoice by itself?
- No. Past the weeks you agreed, ScaffYard flags the job and asks you whether to charge extra hire or leave it. You raise the invoice.
- Do I need a card to start?
- No. The 30 free days start when you open the yard, with no card. A card is taken when you subscribe.
